Mary MacKillop

In Room 5 for R.E, we have been learning about Saint Mary MacKillop so we did a timeline on her. Here is my timeline of Mary MacKillop.

What makes a good teacher?

All good teachers should have great skills, attitudes and qualities. Skills that a good teacher needs is to be, well organised and to be able to encourage their students. Attitudes that a good teacher needs is to have a kind attitude and to have a encouraging attitude. Qualities to make a good teacher is to be trustworthy and understanding.

A good teacher should be well organised. They should be ready before students enter the class. This will show their students to always be organised before coming to school. Another skill that good teachers should have is to be able to encourage their students at all times. Student’s should be able to have encouragement by their teachers as much as possible, especially when they need help.

A good teacher needs a kind attitude. Student’s shouldn’t be afraid to talk to their teachers. A good teacher will have an encouraging attitude as well. Meaning their student’s will always receive support and motivation towards learning. They also encourage their students to always do their best so they can have a bright future.

Good teachers have many different qualities. 2 qualities a good teacher needs is being trustworthy and understanding. Teachers should always be trustworthy. If a student needs to talk to a teacher about something happening at home it should stay between them two. Student’s should be able to trust their teachers. Teacher’s should always be understanding to be able to relate more to their students.

In conclusion I think that all teachers need skills, attitudes and qualities to become a good teacher. I think that Jesus had all these skills, attitudes and qualities because he was an amazing teacher to the apostles and disciples.

Being tied up on a pole was not what I expected.  I struggled with my hands tied behind me as bombs were being dropped all around. I saw my life flash before my eyes.I struggled to stay alive.

Wind swished back and forth making my spine shiver. The dark clouds came upon me and drips of rain started pouring. The world was at war and it was about to end and I didn’t know if this was a dream or if this was reality. Every second my heart pumped harder and harder, louder and louder. I knew in time I would pass out.

I opened my eyes and saw an ammunition dump. What was I meant to do with a hole full of ammo? Through the foggy clouds I saw a dark mysterious shadow as if it was going to take over my soul. The gloomy clouds started to surround the shadow, and after a few seconds the shadow disappeared.

“Who are you?” I called out in confusion.

“My name is Robin, a guard who works for the military!” a man replied.

“SILENCE!!” as another guard yelled out to me and Robin.

My mouth closed and everything was silent but the only thing going through my mind was family memories. My health started to weaken every single second. The wind swished harder and harder. Bombs were still dropping, somehow they missed me. I hoped that this was a dream. I closed my eyes and hoped that everything would vanished. When I then opened them and could still see the bombs being dropped and the gloomy weather still surrounded me. The pole was still standing as if it were a never ending tree. I didn’t know what else to do other then hope to God that I would stay alive. Even though it seemed impossible. Soon the air was filled with dust and dirt. The cuffs that had tied my hands caused enormous pain.

Just before I was about to faint, I was taken off the pole. My hands had turned purple from the icy cold weather. They felt numb and were congested with blood. As I looked down my hands were gushing a stream of blood from the cuts I got while hanging. The blood wouldn’t stop and later I felt light-headed. The sun started to appear through the grey clouds. As I walked away I realised that being in the war is not adventurous as everyone thought it would be. In my mind, I was thinking about how close I came to dying and how I could have lost my battle.

Letter to Damon

Dear Damon,

On the 7th of June we came to the Mindlab. It was an AWESOME experience especially how the entrance was secret. I also loved programming the robots, making bag badges and also learning how to do tinkercad, it was fun!! Now at technology at Wesley Intermediate I can use all the tips you have given me. Thank-you for letting us come and learn a lot about the Mindlab.

Another Great Protester (Oscar Romero)

Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was born on August 15th 1917 in Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador. Oscar Romero was an Archbishop of San Salvador. He also was a person who protested against poverty, torture, assassinations and social injustice. Oscar Romero fought for these things until the last day of his life. He also tried to send a Christian message to all soldiers. Rutilio Grande was a close friend of Oscar Romero. When Rutilio Grande was driving to the chapel he was assassinated on July 5th 1928. On that day it formed Oscar’s passion of fighting for the poor.

After his conversion of heart he was then the voice for the poor. He let the poor know that there was still hope in spreading the word to others. Oscar Romero then went broadcasting to all of El Salvador. Although the government did not want him to speak on behalf of the poor. The government were then very angry and blew up his radio station. They also jammed its signal and bombed its offices.

The people he angered wanted Oscar Romero assassinated. Especially the government because of how Oscar Romero continued to protest against the treatment of the poor. A professional agent then came and assassinated him on March 24th 1980 while he was taking a Mass. The murderer was Roberto d’ Aubuisson. Thirty years after his assassination Oscar Romero was then beautified on May 23rd.
