Facts about Fiji

  • Native Fijians own around 83 percent of the land
  • Fiji is a country which is made up of between 320-330 islands. Fiji is between 320-330 because no-one really knows the number because of the different sources it gives different numbers
  • Forests cover nearly over half the land area of Fiji
  • Traditionally in Fiji the head is the most sacred part of a Fijian’s body. Even today it is rude for another person to touch their head
  • It was very common for people in Fiji to have their hair in several different colours
  • School attendance is for children at the ages of 5-15.
  • There are three types of schools: state, private and those who run the churches
  • Fijians are amazing athletes
  • They are among the world’s best in some sports which are mostly rugby and netball
  • Fijians also provide opportunities for young Fijians to become very fast runners
  • Fiji has a tropical climate
  • There Temprature is a range from 23 Celsius in July to 27 Celsius in February
